Response to Friction test?
<t>yup!i'm developing a Gamma Stirling engine for my final year project as a final year student of mechanical engineering..the development still incomplete without knowing how much friction power it generates.Unfortunately,in my university engine lab the dynamometer broken down and need time to repa...

Response to Friction test?
<r>i believe that only will give STATIC FRICTION POWER instead of DYNAMIC FRICTION POWER because the engine does not running..have u got any idea about inertia test?i've came across about the inertia test and this link (<URL url="http://www.sae.org/technical/papers/950028">http://www.sae.org/technic...

Friction test?
if i don't have dynamometer to check my engine's friction power, what
is the simple way or method to calculate engine's friction
power?please give me the detail of procedures...thanx!!

Response to cylinder sizes ???
for displacer the dimension should be 3:1 (length to diameter ratio) and also the swept volume ratio should be 1.33:1(Vswept for displacer to Vswept for power piston)

Response to FLYWHEEL WEIGHT AND DIAMETER?
another question: which one is better, sprocket flywheel or solid flywheel with both have same mass, material and diameter?

phase angle!
indeed the phase angle between displacer and power piston (Gamma type)
in essential..but,which piston should leads and which one should lags?

Response to Use of graphite as a displacer?
hye Tim!!
for the exact mass and diameter of flywheel, you actually can measure it..do some homework on engine dynamics..i've been doing some calculation, but it's all theories, not yet to implement on my engine though..

Response to FLYWHEEL WEIGHT AND DIAMETER?
<t>i am a mechanical engineering student and i'm doing my final year project on Gamma Stirling Engine.Since the engine being tested and not working out so i've done some modification on the crank mechanism, volume of air distribution from displacer to the power piston and other things..but i think i ...

FLYWHEEL WEIGHT AND DIAMETER?
some of members here said the weight of flywheel need to be
accurate, not too heavy and not too light..just enough to supply
inertia to the engine..but how can we determine or calculate what is
the correct weight of flywheel as well as the diameter?

what makes Stirling engine not working?
besides the pressure(air) leakage and friction what are the problem
that contribute to the engine's failure?
let us do some list here:-
1)heavy flywheel
2)less heat input
3).........
