Response to Book Review - "How I Built a 5 HP Stirling engine"

<t>Catherine.<br/> <br/> Thank you for the very informative (and rather entertaining) account. You paint a very clear picture. That whole situation must have been such a farce! IÂ’m still trying to understand, why would anyone with an IQ above room temperature appoint an Entomologist as the on site ...

Power producing Alpha?

Is there any known working power producing Alpha type stirlings in
existence, at any price or impracticality, or is the engine purely
theoretical?

Response to Stirling engine efficiency

Joe, would you mind elaborating on the idea of "flashing" the heat? I canÂ’t seem to conceptualize that one.

Response to Tantalizingly cool piston?

<t>Actually William, while you are correct in your reference that the fluidic muscle can move very slowly, this is simply one of its features. Did you notice where it is applied in a shaker application at speeds of 90 Hz? I think that this muscle could perhaps serve well as the power piston in a Bat...

Tantalizingly cool piston?

<r>Has anyone considered the potential of the fluidic muscle for use in <br/> Stirling applications? <br/> It is very low friction, it has very high foot-pounds, it has more <br/> force at a given pressure as it gets longer, its capable of very <br/> fast cycle times, and it's hermetically sealed. I...
