Also, if your sealant is not cured completely only pressurize the chamber; you don't want to chance having any of the vapors enter your mouth. You could use a vacuum pump just to be safe.

MM-5 leak, displacer/power piston contact
<t>Hello, <br/> Yesterday I finished assembling my first Stirling engine; the MM-5. <br/> Great experience and it runs very well even though it has a leak that<br/> caused the Air Leak test to fail repeatedly. After much trouble<br/> shooting, I found the leak source to be at the displacer rod tube....

Response to Air leak test won't work
<t>Hello Brent,<br/> I see your post is from October of 2004; I’m not sure if you finally got your engine running or if you set it aside out of frustration over the leakage. I too experienced the same problem just yesterday evening (2/29/08) as I was joyfully putting the finishing touches on my b...

Response to LTD piston/displacer/crankshaft questions
<t>Thanks Steve for your response,<br/> For an LTD, what would be a good piston diameter to use? I've been trying to use one made of 15mm dia. brass tubing; the cylinder is very slightly larger in dia., also made of brass, and provides for little leakage if any. I've got a feeling my piston/cylinder...

LTD piston/displacer/crankshaft questions
<t>Hello,<br/> I'm attempting to construct a Stirling engine that will be powered by<br/> hot water or ice; something similar to the MM-5. I understand the<br/> displacer and piston crank pins on the crankshaft are to be 90 degrees<br/> apart, and the displacer pin should be constructed to allow for...
