How much does it costs a CHP Stirling Engine 3kW electrical power?

<t>CHP units are/were manufactured on contract for qualified homes with the expectation that they would not only provide heating but also be able to supply excess electrical power to the grid. Cost was on the order of $10,000 and break even in ten years.<br/> <br/> To the best of my knowledge they w...

Response to 200-400w wooden fired Stirling engine?

<t>IF you have your heart set on using a Stirling engine, GO FOR IT.<br/> <br/> Other wise I would suggest that you consider a small reciprocating steam engine of modest size to run a generator to fulfill your needs for electricity. They are readily available at reasonable prices in either ready to ...

200-400w wooden fired Stirling engine?

<t>The problem with your use of a Stirling engine to generate 200-400 watts is in the availability of a suitable Stirling engine. <br/> <br/> Such an engine is not available on the market and building one yourself is for the most part a matter of self education to the point of being able to determin...

Response to Rotary Gnome

Try copying the gif file "0000Ur-145.GIF" to your desktop before uploading from there.

Keep in mind that you are building a model engine that will be more tolerant of discrepancies in detail than in a Power Producing Engine.

Response to Rotary Gnome

Can you upload just the gif image, not the entire web site? The forums will not accept URL's.

Suggestion: Place the two 'rotors' close together to minimize the 'dead' space in the connecting tubes/pipes.

Response to Stirling Engines in Cars?

<t>[Mathew Marentette, September 8, 2009] If you have read all of the prior posts in this thread dating back to [March 17, 2002] you should have concluded that there are significant problems in utilizing a Stirling engine as the prime mover in an automobile propulsion system aside for the design and...

Response to Piston stroke

<t>The links are to educational material on Stirling engines. It appears to me that you are attempting a project with little or no preparation as to the design of a Stirling engine. Designing a Stirling engine from scratch is a formidable job for anyone who has been through Dr. Izz]s course in his c...
