Does anyone know if a pumice stone displacer improves efficiency and
does it withstand the rigors of long use?

Response to Pumice Displacer
A pumice displacer would be light, thermally nonconductive, and unaffected by temperture. Pumice is quite friable and would shed abrasive particles. Such particles would be detrimental to a low friction engine. "Foamglas" would be a possible substitute. It is doubtful that either pumice or foamglsa would be of any real benefit. A thin wall metal displacer would provide about the same benefit from a practical standpoint.
