My concept is to get the cylinders to rotate through the
heating/cooling mediums to improve the heat ramp and movement. Two
parallel banks of 4 cylinders each, 1/4th of a cycle out of sync mean
that adjacent cylinders can be used in the Alpha structure so they
are very close, parallel to each other separated by a short tube and
a heat baffle.
Similar to a double bank of Rotary Gnome WW1 aircraft engines. Has
anyone done anything along these lines. Power is taken off the moving
bank of cylinders.

Can you upload just the gif image, not the entire web site? The forums will not accept URL's.
Suggestion: Place the two 'rotors' close together to minimize the 'dead' space in the connecting tubes/pipes.

The Banks will be far closer than the diagram, eliminating most of that dead space. However there still needs to be space enough for air flow over fins.
I notice that like the original Gnome there will be an optimal revolution rate (totally unknown) that will drop off efficiency levels fairly quickly much outside that rate of revolutions.
The bore, stroke, transfer tube are particularly important if you don't want to quickly waste the gain the rotating motor achieves.
This is the server message I get:

Try copying the gif file "0000Ur-145.GIF" to your desktop before uploading from there.
Keep in mind that you are building a model engine that will be more tolerant of discrepancies in detail than in a Power Producing Engine.
