Last night I was watching 60 min. and I seen the Stirling engine
I believe for the first time. I was wondering if there was any
material my eight year old and I could read and do together? I wish
for him to learn about this machine. Thank you.

Hi Christopher.
I think for your eight years old boy , is easier to start from the beginning , showing the principles of pressure and expansion of gases.
I'm not making propaganda of any store but I think the simplest motor is one made with a glass tube and smalls balls inside, you can find it at " http://www.scientificsonline.com/EC/Pro ... yid=317314 ".
I never bought it , but I believe that it has an explanation detailed ( this way is easier to explain to your soon ) another thing is to look at www.howstuffworks.com it might be helpful.
if you need anything else just ask , I'll help with anything I can.
Regards
Ricardo

Your can find information on building a Test Tube Stirling
engine by doing a search on the www with www.dogpile.com
There is a six page pdf file from Dept. of Engineering, University of Canterbury, as well as a one page file via "Mr. Omniscience" Between the two you would have good information to sucessully build a TTSE!
