What are commen day uses for Stirling engines? and also is there any
expriment that I could do with a grade 9 class?

On the Stirling Forums page, look in lower left panel for information relating to science fair project. Assembling a MM-5 coffee cup engine would be a good experience combined with studying the annimations listed in the Model Stirling engines forum.
Have each student write up his understanding of how the Stirling engine works. Look up information on the inventor Rev. Robert Stirling.
Present day applications would be an excellent research project for the class. The www is a great resource for such research.
