I am building an alpha type Stirling engine for which I used an online
calculator for fixing dimensions,etc of engine
(http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~khirata/acad ... implee.htm).
I took 45mm as the cylinder dia and 17mm as the stroke length to get
power output 17 roughly. I tried it out but did not work(it was too
tight ) , what should I do now? Should I decrease the stroke length?.
If yes to what extent.

You indicate that the engine wouldn't work "(it was too tight)"???
FIRST try to increase the clearance of the piston in the cylinder until it slides easily but doesn't bind from being too tight.
The choice of material(s) for the piston and cylinder can make a big difference!
There have been a number of posts in this forum regarding details of model Stirling engine building and testing. No need for fancy calculations for the most part.

..........You do not have enough information in your question. Are you
working with the power cyl., or displacer cyl.? What is "too tight"? You
don't even mention a piston. I do not know what "power output 17" means.
