Outdoor Wood Boilers and Electrical Production

Post by vatrix »

I think the Stirling hooked up to a generator would do a great job in
the winter of suppling electricity to a single dwelling. the
temperature difference of say 10 degrees F and 180F wouyld produce a
large Delta T which I think would produce lots of power The market
for this would be huge. I read some comments on this in the Forum
but fail to find if anyone has tried. Anyone??

Here here! From what I've read, the delta t would not be as "large" as you would think, as alot of the engines I've seen use between 600 to 1200 deg. F at the cylinder head. However, you would think that you could still produce some useful energy. Since I run my outdoor boiler on scrap from my hardwood flooring and moulding mill, anything would be useful. Are there not enough boiler users out there yet to justify a more mass-produced medium temp differential Stirling engine for say 300 to 800W energe production? As you say, you would get a better Delta T in winter.
