I would like to buy a Stirling engine circa 1937, or indeed any
actual working engine. Does anyone know where one of these
fascinating things can be located. Max

There are two general possibilites, an antique engine and a modern engine. Antique engines will be much easier to find. If you want an antique start by advertising in magazines like Farm Collector, Gas Engines, and similar magazines. You could also try sending an ad to Brad Ross who runs Stirling Machine World. (Look any of these up on Google).
There are only a few modern Stirling engines in existence. You can try to find a Philips 102C (about 50 were built) by advertising in Stirling Machine World. Whispertech is indeed selling a new modern Stirling engine designed for yachts. If you can afford the yacht, buying one of these should be no problem. Find them through our links page.

What kind of a Stirling engine do you want? I have an original KYKO Stirling fan that is in good working order that I might consider selling. This is an antique collectors item.
