Power producing Alpha?

Post by justin2929 »

Is there any known working power producing Alpha type stirlings in
existence, at any price or impracticality, or is the engine purely
theoretical?

There are many working Stirling Engines both Alpha and Free piston. Some have been highly
refined over the years and a few are nearing commercial production. Sunpower Inc. Has a
number of really good engines but none yet commercially available to the general public. See;
http://www.sunpower.com. Stirling Technology is working to get a 3.7 KW Biomass fired air
engine into production. http://www.Stirling-tech.com. Infinia also has a number of very good
designs. There are a number of other companies with practical working designs also.

dispite the inability for anybody to give a credit card for a working Stirling to be shipped to your house, in the multi-kilowatts range, there are a handful of projects that have passed a certain threshhold of being able to produce that power with local bio waste burning heat levels, which is where a commercial demand exists in some countries.

the next year or two should have news of several working engines being brought to the market.
