Attainable Temperatures for Stirling Motors

Post by mmarinr___6198 »

Hi there! Me again! Thanks a lot for the help in the previous question!

Ok, now the question is all about temperatures.

I read on the Stirling Engine Design Manual (thx Franco!) that the
Output Work in SEs is affected directly by volumetric dimensions and
the difference of temperatures, so my question is What are the
possible attainable temperature differences? (HOT TEMP - COLD TEMP)

If possible I would like to know the heat source as well as the cold
source that produced your temperature differential. It would be
awesome if by any chance any of you guys have some sort of list of
sources with the possible temp dif.

I hope I made myself clear on what I need and THANKS a lot for your help!

Cheers!

The maximum temperature applied to the hot end can be as high as you can produce without melting down the engine.

The cold end likewise should be cooled to as low a temperature as means of cooling will allow, usually water.

Go to the home page, click on book "How I Built a 5-HP Stirling Engine" then click on the second link in descriptive paragraph to access and download Chapter VI from the book. Lots of photographs for your education amusement and amazement.
