I'm looking for a suitable power piston and accompanying cylinder. I
don't have a machine shop available so was looking for some piston-
cylinder combo that had been designed for some other purpose. A used
lawn mower engine might be one possibility but am looking for
suggestions.

How about a V-type air compressor. It already has an alpha-configuration where the pistons have a phase difference of 90 degrees. That takes care of the drive mechanism and the piston/cylinder combo you're looking for.

But you'd probably have to replace the piston rings with proper seals which can withstand high internal engine pressure. Teflon seals are one option. There may be some machining to cut the groove(s) in the piston where the seal fits. You may also need a separate seal nearest the crankcase which prevents oil from getting into the cylinder. But maybe the V-type compressor already has a seal for this.
