Stirling beer cooling

Would it be possible to build a Stirling machine that would cool 5
gallons of beer from 212 F to 75 F in a reasonably short amount of
time? The cooling end would have to be sanitizable and it would have
to run off of normal household power. Could I do this at home or
would it require serious hardware? Thanks!

Humm... What a novel idea. Sounds like you have a home brewing project. My guess is that if you get the beer done before the Stirling cooler then you will never get around to building the cooler! [smile].

Building a Stirling cooler would be a fun project, but is beyond a simple "home brew" level of complexity unless you are a serious hobbyist. There are a couple of out of print books by Walker on cryocoolers that might help if you decide to get serious.
