I have been looking for plans for about a 5 HP Stirling that would
burn wood. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Danny

Yeah, looking for the same. Some very low-tech thing.

We sell a book on how Mr. Lockwood built a 5 Hp Stirling engine. It's not quite a plans book but we are hoping to encourage people to give it a try. There are lots of drawings and photos in the book so it should turn this into a rewarding but somewhat large project.

If you aren't a machinist you will want to buy extra copies of the book, give them to some machinists and get them interested. You will need a range of skills and equipment to build a good version of this engine and it's very likely to involve several people.

Crazy? It seems to me that perhaps the most obvious and useful point of Stirling technology is producing domestic electricity: co-generation is a great route to go down. Why on earth is the only commercially available home-generating unit that I can discover a gas-burning planet-polluter? I too want to burn my logs from my own forest land and produce something more than just heat.
