Stirling Water Heater/Cooler

Post by paulkasman___5372 »

Sorry if this is old ground re-trodden, but I have an idea for making
both Stirling engines and wind power function together and I am
curious if there is a completed Stirling Engine available to implement
my scheme because I'm not a machinist and doubt my ability to build
my own.

The idea is to use wind power to drive a Stirling engine which would
then produce a Hot Water "box" and an Ice "box." The two boxes would
be interchangeable and one would be inside the home, the other
outside, back to back.

The primary function of the Ice box would be for food storage, and the
Hot box would be for hot water for showering, washing, etc.. The
secondary, or load dumping, uses would be for heating and cooling of
the house. In the winter the interior box would be the hot box, with
food storage in the exterior box. In the summer the locations would
be reversed.

Heating in winter would be supplemented with a wood burning stove.
Cooling in Summer would be abandoned if necessary to maintain food
storage levels.

To my mind this solves the biggest problem of small scale wind power,
namely energy storage. A single wind turbine could potentially
provide all of ones food storage cooling and hot water needs, without
wasting any in storage problems, because any extra energy would
supplement household heating and cooling, as necessary.

I think I've got the wind producing side worked-out pretty well and I
could expect a power supply in the vicinity of 10 amps at 12 volts dc.

Directing me to appropriate products or reading material would be most
appreciated.
