From what I think I understand is that there has to be a temperature
differential in order for the opperation to occur. I live in the
midwest usa. 10 months or more out of the year we are either running
the heat or the air conditioner. Is it feasible to construct a
Stirling between our attic and main floor, such as in a closet and
use the temperature difference between the two areas to run a motor.
Even if I could off set a small amount of electricity back into the
grid it could save me a few hundred a year in bills. I'm sorry if
this is a stupid question but I would feel more stupid if I didn't
at least ask... Thank you for your time...Todd

Oh so many quest for this Holy Grail.
There are detailed answers to why you can not at this time do this.
In theory, yes, but you can not find one to buy at this time.
The first one to build a really clever self-sustainted unit, will be kinda like the Wright Brothers.
For now, you can make good use of hot outside, and even coolness in the earth below the frost line. There are things like "heat pumps", that do work.
I'm playing with an idea to crack this puzzle, like so many others.
Maybe you will be the one!
Good luck.
