I'm having trouble, and need some help

Post by fj62_1989 »

Hi, I am new to the forum, new to Stirling engines.

I am a senior at eastern washington university and am currently
trying to build a prototype Stirling engine using these plans:

dstirling_frameset.htm
or this link if the other doesn't work:

They are German or Belgian? I'm not sure.

We have a similar design and it really wants to run, but there is not
quite enough to make it go. We have tried to reduce friction as much
as possible, but I fear that it is not enough.

What are some effecient ways to make the connecting rods so they are
free and don't bind?

The bearings I am using may be lightly oiled, should I clean them out?

We are using a 1/2" dia. graphite piston in a brass cylinder, is that
ok?

Is there a simpler way to make this engine? We have been tinkering
with it for two weeks to no avail. I can post pictures if that will
help.

Thanks,
