Hi, I am a Mechanical engineering student at a Technikon in Cape
Town, South Africa. I have been tasked with designing, building and
testing a Solar Powered Engine.
This is my first exposure to Stirling Engines and I am having
difficulty with the project concept as not alot is done about this
subject in SA. Any guidance on my project?

Many will tell you what you taken on is too much. Please talk with your academic advisors, and propose this. You will take a working design of a solar powered engine, which does not have to be a Stirling, and you will build it. This gives you priceless experience with really building the engine. As an engineering student, you will propose one design change to improve it, and state your concept you will defend in a paper.
